A Crucial Part Of The Puzzle – Do This, And Get More Twitter-Followers

There is a bit of contradicting information out there what the most important pieces of the puzzle are, when it comes to the likelihood of someone following you back on twitter. So what I would suggest, just do em all ;)

High up the rankings: Your picture. Make it a picture of yourself and make sure you smile. It’s weird, but it’s true. This has an amazing impact. Use your *real* name.

Secondly, the quality of your tweets. Kind of a no-brainer.

Last but not least, your twitter-bio. Yes, as you float by on someone’s screen, underneath your pic they can actually read part of your bio, and this will peak their curiosity in you, IF the bio is well written.

This is what you want to have in your bio according to Twitter-Genious Kenneth Yu (www.twitterpersuasion.com)

1. some sort of nick-name. I personally don’t have a nick-name, and don’t believe in it, but you may consider using a nickname as a part of your brand. He calls himself “The Puppet-Master”, just use whatever you feel suits your personality and niche.

2. Some sort of endorsement by someone else. This one might be difficult to obtain, but if anything positive has been said by anyone, use it.

3. A benefit-statement. Tell people what they can expect from your tweets. Don’t make it too salesy.

Don’t forget that your twitter-bio should – ideally – lead to a blog. A blog is the ultimate self-branding tool, and your blog is especially where you can give away great content and like so capture leads. A blog is a give, not a take, which is especially why all the top-guns in social media are using them. Don’t have your blog lead to a sales-letter or regular website. If you can’t capture leads, you really have nothing. Use twitter – and use your blog – to build a list.

Please let me know what your experience is, as I know there are a lot of different opinions out there.

    Mark,

Great points about your picture and bio. This is where the introductions are made. When you step into the front door of the party, and say hello. This could leave a lasting impression either positive or negative. Spending a few minutes crafting a good bio, could lead to you towards some awesome relationships.

Keep doing what you do, and you’ll get to where you want.
