Good video and tips Mark. That’s one of the best things to do, just post valuable, entertaining, or must know content, don’t post sales messages, would you rather be remembered for posting valuable content or for posting sales messages. Quotes are another biggie that’s RT and shared alot as you mentioned

Yep. Posting it on the wall is a playful thing. Since it’s there, one might as well use it, sending a message works as well.

My ‘wall’ rule is now by invitation only …. If I want to send something special to someone I do it by message these days.

It totally depends. To post something nice on someone’s wall you know and like is totally fine and totally cool. Unless you are posting messages on people’s wall you don’t know and to make matters worse, possibly sales-messages. That would be kind of a no-go, or a spamming-attack.

Thanks Mark, and of course there is a clear difference between creating a community group and just plonking stuff on someone’s wall. I had no idea not to do it and really felt like a dill when I realised!

You are totally correct and I should have made this more clear. Actually, that’s a big flaw in the video. Thank you for bringing it up.

Fact is, that I invite everyone to post on my wall, YES. But that’s because I benefit from it, because the more interaction on my fanpage, the better. So this advice, in reality, goes out to everyone who markets on facebook and has a fanpage, but I should have made that clear.

I will have to re-do that, once I find the energy, I guess.

Indeed you could be in trouble if you just post whatever stuff on whoever’s wall.

Just not in my case. Post whatever you like, so we get a buzzing community going.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the video but I have a question – there appears to be differing views on posting directly to someone’s wall. You are happy to invite posts to your wall however others seem to be annoyed by it and complain loudly when making general comments about what’s appropriate on FB.

Not being aware of wall post ettiquette I posted a video on a friend’s wall that I thought she would love when I first started on FB and didn’t get a response … in my book lack of acknowledgement was bad manners however was my action incorrect ettiquette?

Would like to know what you think?
