Branding Secrets Day 4 – Promoting yourself: Do you have the high-and-mighty syndrome?

by on 03/09/09 at 11:32 pm

Success is not a coincidence. You’ve read the books, you’ve listened to the audio-programs. Success is about attitude? No way. Attitude won’t help you when you’re working at Mac Donald’s. As a wise man once said: When you work at Mac Donald’s and haul out the trash, they’ll pay you 5 dollars an hour. If you whistle while you haul out the trash, they’ll pay you 5.50.

Success may be in your attitude, but it is very strongly determined by what we do as well. And what we do is determined by what kind of “opinions” (or beliefs) we have towards the forms of enterprise that might indeed create super-abundance.  Why not question your beliefs? I listened to a cool program once called “Change your beliefs, change your life” (check nightingale conant). The author categorized beliefs into handed-down beliefs, cultural beliefs, and so on. Interestingly, beliefs always have an external source. Isn’t that somehow scary? It means nothing more – and nothing less – than us being indoctrinated beings by default. Yet we own our beliefs and opinions and defend them as if they were a part of our body. Why not “brainwash” yourself and replace the old garbage with programming that is actually beneficial to you?

So it’s time for you to do some soul-searching. What do you, on a deep level, REALLY think about self-promotion?

    Hi Mark,

Another good video and you’re right, Harv Eker is great value.

Also wanted to say I appreciate your videos – I get so much stuff that I never get a chance to listen to but I take the time and listen to yours because they are short, to the point and very relevant. It’s a great concept and I congratulate you!

    Thanks
    Inara

Interesting viewpoint, well worth some consideration. I’ve just started sending video greetings out to others who I don’t necessarily know well and am finding it simple and fun. It has really helped me to start some good friendships.

I can see what you’re saying though, about this not being in total alignment with our desires to attract rather than seek out others. Guess I’ll have to give my strategy a bit more thought.

More good stuff. You’re totally on the money. I’ve been doing the one-at-a-time slow-as-a-turtle listbuilding on Twitter and Facebook that you’re alluding to here on this video. it’s tough and it’s time consuming.

Let me know if you have a course on how to “freak” Facebook like you’re doing now. I would really like to know more. All the best, – Marcus
